In The Secret Country displayed a great deal of loyalty to his sister by not letting their cousin Patrick continually put her down for her ideas just because all he can understand is logic and scientific principals that don’t have to much to do with the predicament that they are in. Ted also like a good brother knows Laura’s limitations and comes up with excuses for why Laura needed help like with horse ridding or getting around the castle.
Though their other cousins (Ruth and Ellen) also helped in these departments they never did it as well or convincing as Ted.
